In the 19th Century, the inhabitants on the rim of the vast Pacific Ocean barely knew one another.
During the 20th Century they met, sometimes violently.
When the history of the 21st Century is written, it can record that the peoples of the Pacific Rim came to know one another and to share in values that led to a greater peace and prosperity than the region had ever known.
